This month, I would like to introduce Tor Falcon, an artist who I discovered a year ago and I fell in love with her work. Her fascination with and love of nature and the changing seasons is expressed beautifully and I enjoy several of her paintings at home.
After completing her Fine Art, Painting degree in Norwich, Tor stayed in Norfolk, and extraordinarily (to her), she’s lived in the same place now, for 20 years. This has slowly filtered into her work. Her subject matter has moved from the more general, landscape, to the specific, place and flora. Though certainly not botanical illustrations, her work is about particular plants in a particular place. What it is to know somewhere, some plants, for a long time. Her fast drawings and more considered oil paintings, along with her blog http://torfalcon.tumblr.com/ are an unscientific study of a small slice of the natural world. She sells her work mainly from her studio and her website www.torfalcon.co.uk. She has an exhibition planed for September 2012 in North Norfolk at Wiveton Hall Cafe.
