New In – c.1958 Phillip Lloyd Powell Cabinets

New In today are this exciting, large pair of wall cabinets by the American 20th Century designer Phillip Lloyd Powell (1919-2008). They have concave doors and when opened the shelved interiors are decorated in red lacquer. They are finished on the exterior in silver and gold leaf in brick form on a red background, which has been lacquered. The incorporated decorative handles are of Asian origin. Phillip often incorporated unusual elements such as these into his works. He is best known for his partnership and collaboration with the other great 20th Century American designer; Paul Evans.

This pair of cabinets were designed for his own use at home and were made around c.1958

New In – A Large Carved Fruit-wood Mirror Frame In The Oriental Style

New In today is this large & unusual French mirror frame. It is made of pine and carved fruit-wood in the Oriental style; trefoil in shape with an unusual thumbprint design around the edge. C1900-1920

I have not yet replaced the mirror plate, so that whoever wishes to purchase it can decide what kind of glass to use.

New In – A Nest Of Gilt-Brass Occasional Tables

New in today is this charming nest of French occasional tables dating to the c1950’s. They are made of gilt-brass and fashioned to look like bamboo. Each table has a mirrored top and the smallest table also has a lower shelf.

These would be very useful in a drawing room.

New In – 1940’s Italian Console

New In today is this very simple but stylish Italian console table. It is made of patinated bronze and ‘verde antico’ marble. The two supports rest on marble bases and are fashioned into acanthus leaves. The table dates to the c1940’s. It can be secured to a wall and therefore could take some weight. Would look great in an entrance hall, landing or cloak room.

New In – 18th Century French Chandelier

New in today is this exquisitely delicate French chandelier of gilt bronze. Late 18th Century in date and hung with cut glass drops, some of which were replaced at a later stage. It has six lights and is strung with brass chain with a glass spire in the centre.

New In today is this very chic rosewood desk by the famous Milanese architect and designer paolo Buffa (1903-1970). It comprises a birch lined lockable drawer and a single compartment. The tapering legs have gilt-bronze mounted feet and the top is inset with glass. C.1940-50

New In – Blue Cactus By Riccardo Licata 1997

New In today is a glass sculpture by the famous Italian artist Riccardo Licata. It is one of his later works and is dated 1997.

Born in 1929, his works are now to be found in the museums of modern art of Venice, Milan, Mulhouse, Alessandria, Rome, Turin, Warsaw, Sao Paulo, Vienna, New York, Stockholm, Florence, Stuttgart, and elsewhere.

As I am in love with this piece and I treasure it at home, it is unlikely that I will part with it, however I am open to offers!

New In today is this large and impressive Swedish console table, supported on two scrolled legs with water gilded swags and a faux marble plinth. The back of the console contains an old mirror plate and the top is made of shaped white marble. It dates to the early 19th Century but has had much later restoration.

It is 120cm wide by a metre tall.
