An Italian early 18th Century gilt wood Cardinal’s chair on lion paw feet. The ‘X’ frame seat has it original water gilding and gold bullion and velvet fabric. The velvet, once cardinal red, has worn down and the gold and silver threads suggest: doves, foliage and a crown. At the front is a carved coat of arms surmounted with a Cardinal’s hat. . .

A pair of large English Country House wine coolers or cellarettes in the manner of Thomas Hope. Their quality and condition is rare, given their age. The cuban mahogany sarcophagus cases are beautifully executed, with lion paw feet and hidden casters. The interiors are lead lined, one for bottles, the other for ice. The gilt bronze lion masks are finely tooled and a distinctive model of Hope’s. . .
