‘De Wallen’ :An engaging and thought provoking new exhibition & photographic documentary by Sasha Alexander @ Long White Cloud

‘De Wallen’: Is A photographic documentary about the Red Light District of Amsterdam. This is the personal experimental research of our very own Sasha Alexander who was curious to find out why women find themselves working in the sex industry.

“Throughout the project Sasha Alexander interviewed many working girls and every single one was different, as hopeless destiny brought them there. Few were angry, some sad and others content in their lives as they are devoted to something deeper beyond their job. To them this is “only the job” but nothing else. The happiness and escape lies in money and the job can certainly provide this”.

All photographs are framed and available for purchase. I would highly recommend going out East and checking this out – The Long White Cloud also serve amazing food and wine!

Friend Of The Month, November – Billy Cotton

Billy Cotton
Billy Cotton

We are thrilled to introduce this Month another friend of Ebury Trading: the energetic young talent that is Billy Cotton! . . .

Billy is a designer based in New York but is often in London and Europe: if anyone has their finger on the pulse of what is passe, hip or about to happen, it is him. We are especially glad to introduce Billy, not least, as he launched with his team, their new website last week; which is fresh, crisp and user friendly. . .

With many strings to his bow, Billy studied Russian History (something we share a passion in) at Hunter College then went on to take a degree at The Pratt Institute as well as travelling and working in various European Cities. While Billy was studying, his creative energy was focussed on up-cycling and recreating and designing furniture for private clients. This led to the creation of Custom Resource in 2004.

Whilst this really took off and was getting Billy noticed, he also found time to set up a separate home ware and tabletop collection which is showcased at Bergdorf Goodman, but is widely available in different outlets worldwide. Again, the youthful, intelligent and sophisticated, clean and simple designs have been a success. His lighting collection in particular has not only featured at the Milan Furniture Fair, but has featured prominently in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, World Of Interiors and many other publications.

Please take a moment to check out their website and be inspired!
